Not flight planning

Forecast from Open-Meteo, updated hourly. Pilots use official aviation forecasts (TAFs and METARs) and the operator's own minima. Helicopter flights in the London control zones also need visibility and cloud above the minima in the UK AIP.

Why weather matters for helicopters

Helicopters are limited by visibility and cloud base more than by wind. Under the UK rules for the London control zones, Special VFR flights along the routes need at least 1 km flight visibility today, and the CAA has decided to raise the minimum for the Restricted Area to 3,000 m visibility and a 1,000 ft cloud ceiling from the November 2026 AIRAC cycle.
